Carla Adair Hendricks is a writer and pastor's wife of ten years to her wonderful husband, Anthony Hendricks, a teaching pastor at Mosaic Church of Central Arkansas. In addition to supporting Anthony in his preaching and leadership responsibilities, she serves on Mosaic Church's Soul Sisters women's ministry team, planning bible studies and special events. She additionally teaches in their Mo' Kids ministry and leads the children in "Signs and Wonders," interpretive sign language set to praise music.
Carla has a heart for orphans "around the corner and around the world," and lives out James 1:27, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." She recently joined the statewide board of The CALL foster care ministry, serving children in the foster care system of Arkansas. She currently leads The CALL's communications and marketing efforts.
A freelance writer and journalist, Carla has published articles in AARP Bulletin, Southern Exposure Magazine, and Encounter. In May 2012, the month of Mother's Day, she published her first article in Guideposts Magazine, sharing the story of her son Christian's Russian adoption. In December 2011, she won first place for her devotional God With Us in a Christmas competition hosted by American Christian Writers, Little Rock chapter.
For over a year, Carla has shared her heart and the Word of God through her blog, formerly entitled Sojourner of Truth. This year she has re-titled her blog Deep Waters and changed her focus. As a young Christian, Carla purposefully distanced herself from all things pop-culture. Today she seeks to bridge the gap between Christian culture and mainstream culture, by sharing her heart -- and hopefully God's heart -- on current events and issues. She hopes to encourage dialogue and introspection amongst believers in Christ, people of other faiths and religious skeptics.
Join Carla here every week for a unique perspective on matters affecting our culture and world. Your heart will be blessed every time. That's a promise!
