Carla Adair Hendricks is a writer and advocate for vulnerable children and families. She has a heart for orphans "around the corner and around the world," and lives out James 1:27, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." She currently serves Church of the City, in Franklin, Tennessee, as Coordinator of Wrap Around, a support and awareness-building ministry for foster care and adoption.
Also a writer and journalist, Carla has published articles in AARP Bulletin, Southern Exposure Magazine, and Encounter. For five years, she has published devotions in Daily Guideposts. In May 2012, she published an article in Guideposts Magazine, sharing the story of her son Christian's Russian adoption. In December 2011, she won first place for her devotional God With Us in a Christmas competition hosted by American Christian Writers, Little Rock chapter.
For several years, Carla has shared her heart, her faith and her convictions through her blog Deep Waters. As a young christian, Carla purposefully distanced herself from all things pop-culture. Today she seeks to bridge the gap between christian culture and mainstream culture, by sharing her heart - and hopefully God's heart - on current events and issues. She tackles tough topics like race, faith, social justice and, of course, foster care and adoption.
Dip your feet into Deep Waters to experience a variety of compelling issues and thoughts. You will find encouragement, authenticity and hope there.
